About
Chantelle Norton is a visual artist and designer working in a variety of mediums from painting to ceramics. She has worked in many fields of design, from textiles and fashion design to product and graphic design. Most recently she has been designing data visualizations and infographics. Her whimsical paintings and hand-built ceramics take nature, animals, and mythology as inspiration with explorations into storytelling and memory. Textiles and patterns are often depicted in her work, reflecting on domesticity and notions of home, emitting subliminal emphasis on a story or theme. While the end image and story are key to her artwork, the process - whether in painting or ceramics - is just as important. And, while she has settled in the Lower Hudson Valley, and is influenced by its landscape and surroundings, her work is shaped by a childhood moving between Ireland and the United States.
